Why Ontario Is Different

Why Immigration in Ontario Comes with Unique Challenges

Ontario is Canada's most populous province and home to the country's largest immigrant population. More than 40% of all new immigrants to Canada settle here each year. That creates unique situations we handle every day.

1

Fast-Moving Tech and Professional Job Markets

Tech companies in Kitchener-Waterloo, financial services in Toronto, government positions in Ottawa — many roles require LMIA-backed work permits on tight timelines. We process these cases quickly with exactly what IRCC requires so job opportunities are not lost.

2

Previous Refusals With No Clear Explanation

Many Ontario applicants try on their own, receive a refusal, and do not know what went wrong. We review exactly what failed — missing documents, weak support letters, income proof issues — and rebuild the case properly before reapplying.

3

Criminal Inadmissibility Requiring Legal Strategy

Criminal records from years ago create inadmissibility barriers. These cases require lawyers, not just consultants. We handle criminal rehabilitation applications and Temporary Resident Permits with the legal oversight these files demand.

4

Spousal and Family Sponsorship Complexity

Sponsoring a spouse means proving relationship authenticity with precision. One missing document delays reunion by months. We build complete, well-evidenced sponsorship files that anticipate what IRCC officers look for.

5

International Students Transitioning to PR

Ontario's colleges and universities graduate thousands of international students each year. The OINP and Express Entry pathways to permanent residence have strict point systems and timelines. We have guided hundreds through this transition successfully.

6

Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship

Bringing parents or grandparents to Ontario requires meeting strict financial requirements — whether through the PGP sponsorship program or the Super Visa. We ensure income calculations, documentation, and applications are prepared without gaps.

What the Consultation Covers
Timelines

Timelines and What Helps Your File Move Faster

Immigration timelines are unpredictable. IRCC processing times change constantly based on application volume, program type, your country of origin, and how complete your documents are. The estimates below are general guides — always verify current figures on IRCC's official processing times tool.

Study Permit

4–8 weeks

Varies significantly by country of origin

Express Entry (Post-ITA)

~6 months

After receiving Invitation to Apply

Spousal Sponsorship

15–21 months

Outland ~15 months, Inland ~21 months

Parent/Grandparent Sponsorship

24–36 months

Subject to program intake availability

What Prevents Delays

Complete Documentation

Missing even one page can trigger a request for additional documents, adding weeks or months. We triple-check everything before submission.

Consistency Across Forms

If employment dates do not match between your work history form and reference letters, IRCC will question it. We make sure every document tells the same story

Quick Responses to IRCC

When IRCC asks for additional information, response deadlines are firm and vary by request type. We respond within days — not weeks — to keep your file active and moving.

Organised Evidence

A poorly labelled application frustrates IRCC officers. A well-organised file gets processed faster. We label, index, and structure everything professionally.

WHY CHOOSE IPJ IMMIGRATION FOR YOUR PR APPLICATION

Choosing the right immigration support can make all the difference in your permanent residence journey. Here’s what sets IPJ Immigration apart:

Two Decades of Ontario Experience

We have been doing this since the early 2000s. We have seen immigration laws change, programs come and go, and IRCC policies shift. That experience means we know what works and what does not. We do not experiment with your future.

We Have Been Where You Are

Our team members immigrated to Canada too. We are not just professionals — we are people who understand what you are feeling. That empathy shapes how we communicate, how patient we are with your questions, and how much we care about your outcome.

RCIC and Lawyer Combination

Some consultancies only have consultants. Some law firms only have lawyers. We have both. That means we can handle everything from straightforward work permits to complex inadmissibility cases requiring legal representation in Federal Court.

Meticulous Attention to Detail

Immigration applications fail because of small mistakes — a missing signature, an unsigned form, a date that does not match. We use detailed checklists for every single case. Nothing falls through the cracks.

You Are Not Just a File Number

When you contact us, you speak to someone who knows your case. We do not shuffle you between people who have no idea what is happening with your application. You receive personalised attention from start to finish.

Success With Difficult Cases

The easy cases? Anyone can handle those. Previous refusals, inadmissibility issues, complex family situations, urgent timelines — these are the cases where our experience really shows. We have solved problems other consultants said were impossible.

The People Behind Your Application

What Our Clients Say

Every application represents someone’s hopes, dreams, and future. Here are just a few of the people we’ve been honored to help.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Cost depends on your case complexity and what services you need. For straightforward cases, expect flat fees ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Complex cases requiring legal representation can cost more. We provide a clear, written quote after understanding your situation — no surprises.

If your case is straightforward — single person, no criminal record, no previous refusals, strong qualifications — you might be fine applying yourself. But if you have been refused before, have inadmissibility concerns, need to maximise your Express Entry points, or face a tight deadline, professional help often makes the difference between approval and another refusal. We have saved clients thousands of dollars in re-application fees by getting it right the first time.

Look for someone licensed — either a lawyer registered with the Law Society of Ontario, or a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) registered with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. Check reviews, ask for referrals from people in your community, and confirm they have specific experience with cases like yours. Avoid anyone who guarantees results or asks you to misrepresent anything on your application.

Yes. Express Entry's Federal Skilled Worker Program does not require a job offer if you have strong education, work experience, and language scores. Provincial Nominee Programs sometimes invite candidates without job offers. Family sponsorship does not require one at all. However, a valid job offer with LMIA support can add significant points in Express Entry and improve your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply sooner.

The OINP is Ontario's provincial pathway for selecting skilled workers, international graduates, and foreign nationals who want to settle in Ontario. A provincial nomination through the OINP adds 600 points to your Express Entry CRS score, which effectively guarantees an Invitation to Apply. Requirements and timelines are strict — we have guided hundreds of Ontario applicants through this process.

A refusal does not always mean the end of your options. Depending on the program, you may be able to reapply with a stronger application, appeal to the Immigration Appeal Division, or seek judicial review at Federal Court. Understanding exactly why the refusal happened is the essential first step — we review every refusal letter and advise on the best path forward.
