Why Toronto Is Different

Why Immigration in Toronto, Ontario Comes with Unique Challenges

Toronto is Canada's most populous city and home to the largest immigrant population in the country. More than 43% of all new immigrants to Canada settle in the GTA each year. That creates unique situations we handle every day.

1

Fast-Moving Tech Job Markets in Toronto

Toronto created 95,900 new tech jobs between 2018–2023, the most of any North American market. Google, Microsoft, and SAP recruit internationally, generating constant LMIA and LMIA-exempt work permit applications. Choosing the wrong pathway costs a job offer and months of delay. We assess every available route before recommending a strategy.

2

Spousal and Family Sponsorship Complexity

Scarborough is 27.5% South Asian; North York counts Filipino residents at 7.5% of its population. Spousal and parent sponsorships are among the most common case types we handle in Toronto. One missing document can delay family reunification by a year or more. We build these files without gaps.

3

International Students Transitioning to PR

The University of Toronto enrolled 27,076 full-time international students in 2024-25. TMU and York add tens of thousands more. PGWP eligibility depends on the exact conditions on the original study permit , a condition missed years earlier can surface after graduation. We guide students through this transition before problems appear.

4

Competitive Express Entry in a High-Volume City

Toronto receives 43% of all new immigrants to Canada. Express Entry CRS thresholds here are among the most competitive nationally. An unoptimized profile waits indefinitely. Strategic CRS improvement , through Ontario PNP, language testing, or credential alignment, is often the difference between an ITA and indefinite waiting. We build profiles strategically.

5

Language Barriers on IRCC Applications

Along Roncesvalles, in Scarborough's Tamil corridor, and across North York's Filipino community, IRCC's English-only forms leave no margin for a misunderstood question or an incorrectly certified translation. We explain every step in plain language, regardless of the language a client works in.

6

Out-of-Status Situations and Refusal Letters

Toronto's large immigrant population includes people who have lost status or received a Procedural Fairness Letter. Status restoration must be filed within 90 days, after that, options narrow sharply. A poorly written PFL response can trigger a 5-year misrepresentation finding. Our immigration lawyer and RCIC team handle these cases.

What Prevents Delays

Complete Documentation

Toronto files compete in Canada's highest-volume processing queue. A single missing document, a tax record, or a reference letter adds months. We verify every requirement before anything is submitted.

Consistency Across Forms

A date mismatch between your employment history and a Toronto employer's reference letter is enough to pause your file. We cross-check every document before submission.

Quick Responses to IRCC

Toronto applications face high IRCC scrutiny. A slow response to a request risks file abandonment. We respond within days, complete and clear the first time.

Organised Evidence

An indexed, well-labelled file moves faster through IRCC's system. With Toronto's application volumes, presentation matters. We structure every file from the first page.

Why Toronto Residents Choose IPJ Immigration Solutions

Choosing the right immigration support makes all the difference. Here is what sets IPJ Immigration Solutions apart for Toronto clients.

Two Decades of Ontario Experience

When we started in the early 2000s, Express Entry did not exist. Toronto was still processing paper-based IRCC applications. Ontario's PNP had a fraction of the streams available today. We have guided Toronto clients through every major shift since, the launch of Express Entry, the move to online portals, and every policy change affecting Canada's most competitive immigration market. We do not experiment with your future.

We Have Been Where You Are

Our team immigrated to Canada too. We understand the paperwork, the waiting, and the worry, because we lived it. That shapes how we communicate with clients across Scarborough, North York, and downtown Toronto. We are not just professionals. We are people who genuinely care about what happens at the end of your application.

RCIC and Lawyer Combination

Some consultancies only have consultants. Some law firms only have lawyers. We have both. For Toronto clients facing inadmissibility issues, Procedural Fairness Letters, or Federal Court matters, our licensed immigration lawyer and RCIC team are equipped to handle it all under one roof.

Meticulous Attention to Detail

Toronto files compete in Canada's highest-volume processing queue. A missing signature, an unsigned form, a date that does not match, these are the errors that cause refusals in a market where IRCC scrutiny is at its highest. We use detailed checklists on every file. Nothing leaves our office incomplete.

You Are Not Just a File Number

When you contact us, you speak to someone who knows your case. Whether you are in Scarborough managing a spousal sponsorship or in North York renewing a work permit, the same person who opened your file sees it through. No handoffs. No surprises. Personalised attention from start to finish.

Success With Difficult Cases

Previous refusals, criminal inadmissibility, out-of-status situations, Procedural Fairness Letters, these are the cases Toronto clients bring to us after being turned away elsewhere. The easy files anyone can handle. It is the complex ones where our experience with Toronto's immigration landscape makes the real difference.

The People Behind Your Application

Every file handled for Toronto-area clients carries the full weight of licensed, regulated expertise, from CICC-licensed RCICs to a Law Society of Ontario immigration lawyer. You work with credentialed professionals from first contact through final decision.

What Our Clients Say

Our clients come to us from across Toronto and the wider GTA, including Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Mississauga, and beyond. Their words reflect what we work to deliver on every file: clarity, honest guidance, and real results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes. IPJ Immigration Solutions serves clients across Toronto and the wider GTA from our licensed office at 601-165 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, approximately 20 to 30 minutes from central Toronto and accessible from most Toronto neighbourhoods by highway or transit. We are not a virtual firm that added Toronto to a service area. IPJ has been operating in this region for over 20 years, and some of our longest-standing client relationships are with Toronto residents, from Scarborough families navigating spousal sponsorships to North York tech professionals managing work permit renewals. Consultations are available in person and virtually. You can directly Book Your Consultation Here

For clients who want professional oversight while staying in control of their own application, our Guided Application Review for an Express Entry profile starts at $750, and the full post-ITA application review is $2,100. If you prefer to have us manage everything, profile creation, CRS strategy, IRCC portal, submissions, and all follow-up, Full Care Representation starts at $1,500 for profile creation and $4,500 for the post-ITA full file. All fees are in Canadian dollars and exclude 13% HST, as well as government processing fees, biometrics ($85), and medical exam costs ($200–$450), which are paid separately. Every fee is confirmed in writing before we begin.

The right choice depends on your situation. Toronto has a large population of skilled tech and finance professionals, many of whom are comfortable managing their own paperwork but want a licensed team to audit everything before it goes to IRCC. For those clients, Guided Application Review often makes the most sense: they stay in control, we catch the problems before IRCC does. If your case involves any complexity, a prior refusal, an inadmissibility concern, a multi-step pathway like a PNP nomination combined with an Express Entry application, or a tight deadline, Full Care Representation is the more appropriate choice. If you start with Guided Review and decide to upgrade to Full Care before submission, the full Guided fee is credited toward the Full Care fee. Book a free 15-minute call and we will give you a straight recommendation with no pressure.

A refusal is not necessarily the end of the road,  but it requires careful analysis before the next move. The first thing we do is review the refusal letter: IRCC is required to give reasons, and those reasons tell us exactly what needs to be addressed. For most temporary residence refusals, reapplying with a stronger, fully corrected file is the most direct path forward. If you received a Procedural Fairness Letter, responding precisely and completely is critical, a weak or incomplete response can result in a refusal and a potential 5-year misrepresentation finding. For permanent residence decisions, the Immigration Appeal Division may be available. In certain situations, a judicial review before the Federal Court is the appropriate route, and this is where Paulina's legal standing matters directly. Book a paid 45-minute consultation at tidycal.com/ipjimmigration to go through your specific refusal in detail.

Based on current IRCC estimates, outland spousal sponsorship typically takes approximately 15 months, while inland sponsorship runs approximately 21 months. These are averages, always verify current processing times using IRCC's official tool, as timelines shift based on application volume and staffing. What does not change is the impact of application quality. A complete, internally consistent, well-documented file is the single biggest factor in avoiding avoidable delays. A missing document, a gap in relationship evidence, or a date inconsistency in the financial section can generate a request for additional information that adds months to an already long process. We build spousal sponsorship files with no gaps that IRCC will find first.

PGWP eligibility depends on three main factors: your program must have been at least 8 months long, your institution must be a Designated Learning Institution, and your original study permit must have been issued correctly and without conditions that affect eligibility. The last point is where problems tend to emerge, a condition missed on the original study permit application, or a gap in full-time enrolment that was overlooked at the time, can affect PGWP eligibility even after you have successfully completed the program. Both U of T and TMU are eligible institutions, but individual circumstances still matter. We recommend a strategy review before you graduate, not after you apply for the PGWP and discover a problem. The PGWP is often the primary bridge to permanent residence. We help you protect it before it is at risk.
